In March 2021, I went through a sleeping phase where I was lucid dreaming every night. When I would wake up, I always felt a sense of disappointment surrounding my return to the humdrum reality of the COVID-19 pandemic. When I set out to write “dreamscapes,” I wanted to capture all the different sensations of lucid dreaming— the excitement mixed with fear, the loss of control, the distorted perception of reality, and most of all, the intense and unstable curiosity.
