Cerebrum
When I first started composing in 2019, I wanted to fuse all of my various references and influences together to create my own unique style. As I listened to more and more popular music, I started to get frustrated hearing the same chords or melodies or arrangement styles over and over again. I had not found an artist that created the kind of music I wanted to listen to. So, I did it myself.
Cerebrum was the first large project I created. I wrote, recorded, produced, mastered, and distributed the album by myself in isolation during the first months of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The album chronicles my journey of thought into action, working through my own personal trauma before working to enact change. The first section of the album describes my relationship to the various places I come from. The second section focuses on my relationship to myself, working through the sense of isolation I felt as a child and an adolescent. The third section describes my relationship to the world around me, and the frustration that often comes with trying to change it.
RUNNING TIME: 49 minutes
Cerebrum was released in August 2020, and remains on all streaming platforms.
