BULLET Pink
duration - ~6 minutes. flute, clarinet, bassoon, drum set, timpani, piano, strings, solo tenor
BULLET Pink is dedicated to the queer people fighting increasingly-troubling anti-LGBTQ+ laws and public sentiment, and is meant to encapsulate the ways in which our community continues to find joy despite a world that is seemingly-always poised against us. The color pink is one of great significance in the queer community, having first been used by the Nazis to identify, and discriminate against, gay men. The symbol of a pink triangle was later reclaimed by AIDS activists in the ‘80’s and ‘90’s, and is now used to commemorate those who died of it.
BULLET Pink was premiered by the NYU Contemporary Music Ensemble in 2024, conducted by Jonathan Haas.
